School

Here is the run down of what I will have in store this semester. Still working the same'ole jobs (nanny and dental office love them both) but now school has started.... DUN DUN DUN! Which means a whole new set of responsibilities have come into play. I have had it pretty east this first week because I have the week of from the dental office. WOOP WOOP!  I am a little nervous because i know once I'm back into the norm I will be stressed. Sam and I are still taking a math class together. This is so awesome because we get to spend time together instead of me just being in a night class alone or visa verse. Along with that class I am taking a Anthropology class and lab as well as a medical terminology class. Phew! are exhausted just reading that? because I am.

So please be pray for us while we transition into this way of life for the fall. I have gotten so used to being able to just relax with Sam every night and make dinner and read harry potter and be close. I am not ready for all this! However I am excited about learning all these new things and getting a move on with my education. Lets see if that excitement dies....

Crafts and cleaning

Juan carlos just hangin out in the back
I took it upon myself to do a lot of home maintenance yesterday (as some of you already know from facebook post's) One thing that I have been wanting to do, forever! Was to clean our carpets as you can see here, were very very dirty. I must admit that the carpets did not get as clean as I wanted, but there is a major improvement. The fact that they didn't get clean might be because I used rug doctor for pets.... I don't have a pet. Either way, after 2 1/2 hours of slave labor, the carpets look like you could eat off them, I wouldn't recommend it though.

(I forgot to take after photos..oops)

some more before.

After a long day of cleaning and grocery shopping Sam reminded me that I told myself that I would work on my curtains this weekend, or else! Since he was leaving me (small pity party for me please) to go to the hardware store, I figured I would work on them.
poor photo I'm sorry some day I will have a good camera

I had gone to harts fabric a few weeks ago with my friend Caitlin, and ended up finding this wonderful fabric. It wasn't on sale and for about 5 yards it cost me about $60! Not the cheapest route, but I was determined to do the no-sew DIY project that I heard about on the blog Younghouselove (also shown to me by Caitlin... shes pretty awesome.) Also here is a little bit of the carpet after cleaning, yay!

Good shot of the material and me cutting, finally!
The hardest part for me was the cutting and the measuring. I think it had to do with the fact that I wasn't confident with my skills. So I ended up back and forth from my room to the living room and measuring a million times. My advice is just do it... but measure twice. I cut four 40"X 45" pieces out with about 29" left over. I wasn't too happy about having that much left over but maybe ill make a pillow or something.
Genius product
After all the cutting and remeasuring It was time for stitch witchery. This handy little product is for people like me that are one of two things: one, too lazy to sew and also two, don't own a sewing machine. I love this stuff it holds and its quick, as long as you don't melt half that roll by leaving it too close to the iron like me. After getting the hang of using the stitch witchery ,and measuring the hems so they were even, the rest was a breeze.
Slaving away

All and all I enjoyed this DIY and will probably do it again somewhere else in the house. Hopefully by then I will have confidence and maybe even a sewing machine... who knows.
Here are the before and after shots.

Before
After, I even had a model come out for this shoot.
Love,
M

Stove Par-tay

Last night we had the pleasure of welcoming a new stove into the "other" Nowlin's house. Michelle has been wanting a new stove for a long time and finally got one... small round of applause please, ok.... So we decided we should celebrate this new stove with a dinner. The stove is very nice and the company wasn't too bad either; Dave, Michelle, Seth, and Jordan... all together a good time. A lot of talk about birthing children and a lot of eating. (weird combo of conversation) After our wonderful dinner our very talented chef made a Blueberry Ice cream pie... yes it was as good as it sounds.

The pie

Shes so happy with her work

mmmmm be jealous

Happy lovers

oh, sorry, i was staring at sams butt

Dave the slave! Do those dishes

<3

While eating our blueberry dessert we decided we should all measure our heads to see who has the biggest one... Jordan ended up winning but Seth still looks like he has the biggest head (sorry Seth). The night was just good family time which I need lately. Even though I didn't see my family very often I liked knowing that they were only a few hours away, but now they are like 7 hours away! So needless to say that is not very comforting and is a bit sad that I don't really have the freedom to see them when I want. However Sam's family is my family, and for some reason (probably because I have trust issues) it has taken me a while to really embrass that they are my family too. I have really appreciated how they have taken me in and showered me with love and acceptance, even if I am always talking dirty around them he he. Theres nothing better than that.

She doesn't have the biggest head. the record has been set straight.

Oh yes and there are no pictures of the stove haha!

pictures

Let me start off by saying it is nearly midnight and i am "tired drunk" its pretty self explanatory. This is when you are so tired you feel drunk (thank goodness for spell check on this thing). That being said I am currently waiting to sleep, but Sam is sewing patches on to a jean vest... i love him so much! While he does this I decided to transfer some pictures that were on our camera, and these photos are the fruits of my labor... enjoy.

Donner lake 2011

First let me just say I'm amazed I'm blogging right now! I'm on my cell phone, next to my sleeping husband and I'm blogging....technology is crazy to me sometimes.
Well as most of you that actually read this blog know we are up at the Nowlin's favorite place on earth- DONNER LAKE! And yes it is named after the Donner party that ate eachother. This is my first year being here as a married couple and for a whole week. I have to say I was really nervous because Donner is a very special place for everyone in the family and I didn't want to somehow mess that up (excuse me that's just my insecurity talking) of course I know I can't but I'm just of those worriers.
Now we are on day 3 of vacation and man does it feel great to be here We literally have NOTHING we have to do, but just relax and have fun... Amazing right? Yesterday I was really hard for me to relax because I'm so used to having a bunch of things to do all day that slowing down and doing nothing was hard. However, I got in relax mode eventually. Sam,of course has no problem with relaxing , and like i said Donner is his favorite place on earth so why not enjoy it. After all this internal battle subdued we had so much fun:
Wakeboarding, reading, sunbathing, swimming, riding bikes, eating yummy food, boat rides, and just hanging out.God is so big an being here helps me to remember that. He not only allows us to enjoy our family but also his amazing creation. Donner is so beautiful, from the trees to the lake its all here and our Lord create it all! My mind is always being blown at this thought.

Please excuse any misspellings and the fact I don't have pictures like I said I'm on a cell phone doing this.
More days of vacation to come and more blogging, hopefully, too.
